المستخلص

This research aims to shed light on women’s tombstones in eastern Algeria through conducting a comparative, analytical, archaeological, and artistic study in terms of their form or content, as Algeria—East or West—maintains an exquisite array of tombstone inscriptions pertaining to Algerian women.

The research is divided into two themes; the first being a descriptive study of the tombstones—the topic of this research—indicating the titles of headstones and dates of death.

The second theme is a comparative, analytical study of tombstones representing their raw materials and overall composition, and the scripts of inscriptions which vary between leafy Kufic, Naskh, and Thuluth, in addition to the names and titles of the deceased, the prayers, and the Hijri months.
